The leisure activities in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and the surrounding area are extremely diverse. The Zugspitz region offers you for your vacation and vacations in summer, autumn, winter and spring numerous opportunities for outdoor and indoor activities, which can start directly from our hotel.

The Alpspitz wave pool is only about one kilometer from the Hotel Königshof.

The adventure pool with sauna area, diving tower and outdoor pool (50 meters x 21 meters) with sunbathing lawn offers bathing fun with a 96-meter-long tube shower and a 9-meter-high speed slide. The wave pool (34 meters x 15 meters) offers wave action every hour. Also the smallest is thought of with a mother/child pool.

The AlpspiX viewing platform offers breathtaking "deep views" - 1000 meters above the ground above the mountain station of the Alpspitzbahn, the AlpspiX is anchored in the rock. 24-meter-long steel arms hold the viewing platform firmly in place.

The summit adventure trail and viewing platform are a free highlight and are open all year round, analogous to the opening hours of the Alpspitzbahn. The 700-meter-long summit adventure trail is laid out as a circuit and is also partly suitable for strollers.

For once, defy gravity and fly. Athletes who take off from the Olympia Ski Jump can live this dream. A guided tour of the Gudiberg ski jump in Garmisch-Partenkirchen will transport you, too, into the world of these fearless jumpers.

You'll explore terrain on site that you're otherwise only familiar with from sports broadcasts - such as the well-known Vierschanzentournee on New Year's Day.

A natural phenomenon that you must have experienced! The Partnachklamm is a 702-meter-long gorge in the Reintal valley near Garmisch-Partenkirchen, which is partly cut more than 80 meters deep by the Partnach torrent. In 1912, the Partnachklamm was declared a natural monument. Ideal for a trip with the whole family or as a starting point for further hiking tours. You will be thrilled!

At eye level with the mountain peaks! Above the clouds, freedom is definitely limitless.

We know that at the latest from all those who have already tried the most beautiful way of flying. Fly as a passenger with a paraglider or paraglider tandem and discover completely new horizons.

Garmisch-Partenkirchen is a fantastic flying area

The Zugspitze region has by far the most attractive flying mountains in Germany. The short distances to the airfields are ideal. All launch sites can be reached by mountain railways and the landing sites are well marked. You can fly here all year round and even in winter if the conditions are good.

An idyllic romantic tour, which is also suitable for families or for Nordic walking.

The picturesquely located Pflegersee can be reached by bike from the Hotel Königshof via Burgstraße in about 20 minutes. The Berggasthof, located on the lakeshore, is perfectly suited to fortify yourself in a cozy Bavarian atmosphere.

You start the hike at the Pflegersee and walk up the Kellerleitensteig via paved steps, which leads you along the Kramerspitze. Wonderful views and little incline at first. You follow the farm track to the St.-Martin-Hütte. Once at the top, you will be rewarded by the beautiful panorama of the Loisachtal valley. Via the Kramerplatauweg, the tour leads you back to the Pflegersee, which offers a refreshing swim in summer. 

Who likes, still makes a short detour and follows the castle trail to the castle ruins Werdenfels, which gave our region its name.

Snowshoeing means experiencing real outdoor feeling. You will be thrilled! Stomp through the snow off the slopes and fill up with every step vacation relaxation.

You can enjoy the fascination of snowshoeing in the area around Garmisch-Partenkirchen in the Wank area, at Eckbauer and Hausberg as well as the region around Zugspitze and Alpspitze.

The magnificent mountain scenery, the tranquility of the winter mountain landscape provides you with an unforgettable winter vacation pleasure. With the family, in a group or alone.

Guided snowshoe tours

Guided snow hikes and taster tours are offered by the Tourist Information Garmisch or by Vivalpin.

Popular for touring is also in winter the Wank. The view from the terrace of the Wankhaus on the Wetterstein mountains is magnificent! The tour turns out to be moderately difficult and is therefore also suitable for the less experienced. You can take the local bus directly opposite the Hotel Königshof to the Wankbahn and start the tour from the valley station.

Tips for the snowshoe hike

Snowshoes can be rented at the ski rental shop in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. So you can try out at your leisure whether you enjoy snowshoeing. The bindings of snowshoes fit any good hiking boots. Hiking poles with snow plates or alternatively ski poles are recommended. Winterproof functional clothing in the onion principle is advisable and do not forget the sunglasses. Beginners are advised to join guided snowshoe tours.

Bike tour through the Loisachtal

A scenic bike tour through the Loisachtal valley to Eschenlohe or Ohlstadt - just as you like.

The tour is ideal for the whole family. On the route there are wonderful meadows for idyllic picnics on the riverbank. We will be happy to prepare a snack for you at the hotel.

MBT Tour: circumnavigation of the Wetterstein Mountains with the Zugspitze
For professionals: a dream tour with everything that makes the MBT heart beat faster: gravel roads, single trails - and fantastic views.

The tour requires a good physical condition. Length: approx. 90 km, altitude meters to be covered: 2104, duration: approx. 8 hours.

Starting point: Partenkirchen ski stadium - Eibsee - Hochtörlehütte - Ehrwalder Alm - Weidach - Leutasch - Mittenwald - Partnachklamm - Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

Tip:
At Garmisch-Partenkirchen Tourismus you can get maps for cycling and mountain biking. The bicycles at Hotel Königshof can be rented by hotel guests for (7,00 € per day).

Garmisch-Partenkirchen is the most famous winter sports region in Germany. Skiing enthusiasts will find their skiing and snowboarding pleasure on 40 kilometers of slopes and five snow-covered valley runs at the Garmisch-Classic ski area. Here you get up close and personal with the Alpine World Ski Championships. Three ski mountains can be reached in just a few minutes from the Hotel Königshof.

The local mountain is particularly suitable for families and beginners: blue and red slopes. There is also the ski school and ski rental of Garmisch-Partenkirchen. The Kinderland is perfect for the ski dwarfs to practice.

The mountain Kreuzeck with the legendary black Kandahar departure and other red slopes is ideal for experienced skiers and snowboarders.

The Alpspitze on 2628 meters offers mainly red slopes. The unique mountain scenery and varied slopes inspire: 12 kilometers of blue, 18 km of red and 10 km of black slopes await your downswing.

Enjoy magnificent hut idyll, also ideally suited as a family hike: Fish pond, cackling feathered cattle, goats, wonderful mountain air and fantastic views.

You start the hike directly from the Hotel Königshof.After only 40 to 60 minutes on foot, you will reach the Kochelbergalm via the valley station of the Hausbergbahn in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, which is located at an altitude of 850 meters.

The trail leads along forest paths and is easy to walk. At the valley station it goes past a few houses into the forest. Simply follow the signs. At the small bridge over the stream, then a few meters to the right and up the steps.

If you are traveling with a stroller, they follow the wide forest path to the left. After the steps, it goes a short distance through the forest. Then you can already see the romantically situated Kochelbergalm on the meadow.

As a hiker, you can choose to sit inside or outside and enjoy a snack or the classic par excellence: Kaiserschmarrn while looking at a bubbling pond fountain.

Big and small children explore the grounds, watch the animals or play next to the terrace on a small playground. Enjoy the mountain views and the healthy healing climate of the Alps!

Either you walk leisurely back to Garmisch, continue your hike to the Partnachklamm gorge or complete the circular hiking trail via the Riessersee and the Aule Alm back to Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

The beautiful easy hike along the Riessersee is also suitable for families and a great jogging route directly from Hotel Königshof. In every season a pleasure!

The Riessersee with an area of about three hectares in front of breathtaking alpine panorama conveys pure vacation joy! The lake is located in a forest clearing above Garmisch at 785 meters above sea level, and the water shimmers gloriously turquoise blue. Enjoy the great view of the Wetterstein Mountains.

The Riessersee has a highly sporting past: in the past, ice sports disciplines and international competitions were held here. In summer, the lake enchants and invites you to swim. The beach bath, the boat rental and the lake terrace with café in front of a dreamlike mountain scenery promise real relaxation. In winter, you can also ice skate here.

You start the hike or jogging tour directly from Hotel Königshof in a southeasterly direction and walk or jog along the Riffelstraße onto the Riesserseefußweg. After about 30 minutes walk and about two kilometers you have reached the Riessersee. You can walk or jog left or right around the lake.

At the top, both trails meet at the historic bobsled run. On the legendary Naturbobbahn Garmisch wurden 1910 to 1966 races. The bobsleigh race for the 1936 Winter Olympics also took place here.

From Riessersee, it's still about a 20-minute walk along the forest path to the Aule Alm. The traditional restaurant is idyllically located in the forest and is ideal for a rest. In the beer garden you can enjoy the alpine panorama with a view of the Waxensteine, while the children can let off steam on the grounds and the small playground

For body and soul, homemade specialties and delicious cakes are served. In cooler temperatures offers the guest room and a separate room with toys for children. Thursdays is day of rest. 

From the Alm you either walk or jog back to Garmisch-Partenkirchen via the Riessersee (along the other side of the lake). Or you walk to the valley station of the Kreuzeckbahn, to start from there the way back with the bus or the Zugspitzbahn to Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

The Forest Experience Trail Farchant is located only about five kilometers from the Hotel Königshof and is an ideal family outing with children.  

The forest adventure trail offers 18 stations to experience the forest with all senses - an approximately three-kilometer-long circular trail that is also suitable for strollers.

Hikers can expect a forest school, a Kneipp basin, a tree telephone and much more. This excursion can also be perfectly planned as a bicycle tour from the Hotel Königshof. Packed lunches can be ordered directly from us.

From Hotel Königshof, take Ludwigstraße to Hasentalstraße in Partenkirchen. Then simply follow the signs to Gasthof Gamshütte on the Wank. The toboggan run is on a groomed track, with a view of the Zugspitze massif.

Tobogganing fun for young and old!

Whitewater: A wet, exciting nature experience! Inn, Loisach and Isar - the rivers around Garmisch-Partenkirchen are among the most beautiful whitewater in Germany as well as Tyrol and invite

Whether in a kayak, canoe or raft: Discover dreamlike paddling areas in the Alps such as the Imst Gorge, which impresses with lots of water, high waves and beautiful surge sections. Or feel the Loisach and Isar at close range and cross magnificent river stretches with dreamlike adventure values.

The whitewater school in Garmisch offers a rental service and tours for beginners as well as professionals.

Rudolph, is it you?! Up to 70 pieces of red deer can be found in the area of the alpine hut. Every year from the Christmas holidays until the end of February, the game feeding at the alpine hut is open to the public. Wild animal feedings have a long tradition with us and are interesting for children as well as for adults.

The show feedings take place Thursdays to Sundays from 4 pm. From the parking lot of the Mountain Inn Almhütte, this idyllic natural event is just a short walk away.

The surroundings of the Hotel Königshof offer a wealth of opportunities for delightful hikes, some of which lead through high alpine regions. Good health and a robust constitution are therefore a basic requirement for carefree hikes.

Tips for hiking

Equipment: Sturdy footwear (sports, trekking or hiking shoes) is one of the elementary equipment of a hike. Think of a detailed hiking map (if necessary, also a compass). Take a sufficient amount of liquid and a snack with you into the mountains. Avoid alcohol and heavy food. Do not forget to pack sunscreen with a high sun protection factor and rainwear. Weather conditions in the mountains can change very quickly. A cell phone has limited utility in the mountains because reception is significantly limited.

As a matter of course, protect nature. Stay on the marked trails. Please do not leave litter behind.
